魅色天堂's Educational Technology Training
Center (ETTC) will send two local educators and three high school
students to the second annual Capitol Tech Day, at the Georgia
State Capitol Building, January 30, to demonstrate to Georgia's
legislators the positive impact that technology funding is having
on instruction in Georgia's public schools.
Mimi McGahee, director of 魅色天堂's ETTC, and Regina Barber, Lowndes
High School science teacher, will accompany LHS students Alyssa
Peacock, Matt Cobral, and Jamie Joy, as they share their
technological presentation, "How Metro Status Will Affect Our
Environment." This is 魅色天堂's second year of involvement in Capitol
Tech Day, a collaborative effort of Georgia's Educational
Technology Training Centers (ETTC) and state schools.
魅色天堂's ETTC is one of 13 similar centers across the state. With nine
educational technology professionals on staff, the 魅色天堂 center works
with school teachers in the region to improve and promote
research-based methods of instruction that they can use in their
classrooms.
ETTC's emphasis includes the integration of multiple technologies
to enrich the curriculum, effective uses of technology to increase
school productivity, and distance learning to provide opportunities
that would otherwise be inaccessible. ETTC believes students must
be empowered to meet the challenges of tomorrow if Georgia's
citizens are to be competitive in the world market of the 21st
century.
Capitol Tech Day activities are scheduled to take place between 10
a.m. to 2 p.m. in the South Rotunda of the capitol building. For
any additional questions, contact Mimi McGahee at (229)
249-2781.
