The person who receives a citation from the Parking & Transportation Department or the University Police Department may choose to appeal it in the  or with a written appeal (must visit our office to complete the form), which will be reviewed by the Parking Appeals Committee. The Parking Appeals Committee is responsible for reviewing parking citation appeals and rendering a decision to uphold or dismiss. The committee is comprised of 5 students, 2 faculty members, and 2 staff members. Parking & Transportation Department employees do not vote on appeals.

For auditing purposes, we encourage appeals to be submitted no later than ten (10) days from the date of the citation. If the fine is not paid or the appeal is not presented within this time frame, the citations will be considered delinquent; a late fee will be assessed; the fine will be transferred to the student's account in Banner (if applicable); and a "hold" will be placed on the violator's records (on the 11th) day.

  • Failure to pay parking holds will result in a person not being permitted to register for classes* until the balance is paid.  *Other collection efforts may also be taken by the 魅色天堂 Bursary.
  • Citations that are under appeal are still "outstanding" until after a dismissal verdict is rendered.
  • Any outstanding fine will prevent faculty and staff from purchasing or obtaining a new parking permit.
  • Statements such as "I did not know the parking rules and regulations," "there was no signage," "I did not receive any notification," or, "I do not remember receiving a citation” are not considered valid reasons for appeal.

All customers (visitor, reserved, staff, and students) are responsible for knowing and following parking rules and regulations.  If a decision is made by the committee to uphold a citation and the customer does not agree/wishes to further dispute or escalate, a personal video appeal is the next step (this would be reviewed by the Parking Appeals Comittee the following week).

  • To request a personal video appeal, it is the customer's responsibility to reply to their verdict letter and request that this next step be taken.  A Parking representative will reach out to the customer to schedule a time for said video appeal to be recorded.  The verdict will then be based on the totality of the evidence presented.

Decisions from the Parking Appeals Committee will be emailed unless a mailed hard copy is requested.
